9V Battery Cap / Connector
৳20
Snap cap for a 9V battery with flying leads, so a cell can be wired into a breadboard, a barrel jack or straight onto a board.
The simplest way to get a 9V cell into a project. Barrel-jack and bare-wire versions are both common.
What you can build
- Portable power for a breadboard circuit
- Battery input to an Arduino barrel jack
- Quick swap between mains and battery on a test rig

Questions about the 9V Battery Cap / Connector
Which wire is positive?
Red is positive and black is negative, as standard. Check with a multimeter before connecting anything sensitive, since cheap caps are occasionally mis-wired.
Why does the cap only fit one way round?
The two studs on a 9V battery are deliberately different sizes so the connector cannot be reversed. If it will not seat, it is the wrong way round rather than faulty.
Can I plug it straight into an Arduino?
With the barrel-jack version, yes, straight into the power socket. With the bare-wire version, connect red to VIN and black to GND — never red to the 5V pin, which bypasses the regulator and destroys the board.
