SIM800L GSM Module

2G GSM module for SMS, voice calls and GPRS on a normal SIM. It needs a 3.4–4.4V supply that can deliver 2A spikes — not the Arduino's 5V pin.
It talks over plain serial with AT commands, so sending an SMS is a handful of lines of code. The power requirement is the part that catches people out, and it is the single most common reason these modules die.

Questions about the SIM800L GSM Module
Can I power the SIM800L from the Arduino's 5V pin?
No, and doing so is the most common way these modules are destroyed. It needs 3.4 to 4.4V and pulls up to 2A in short bursts, which the Arduino's regulator cannot deliver. Use a dedicated supply, a single Li-ion cell, or a buck converter rated for that current.
Why does the module reset every time it tries to send?
Almost always the power supply. Transmit bursts draw far more current than idle does, and a weak supply browns out. Fit a large capacitor across the supply pins, 1000 microfarad at minimum, and make sure the supply itself can hold up under a 2A spike.
Does 2G still work in Bangladesh?
SIM800L is a 2G-only module. Confirm that your operator still carries 2G in the area before designing around it, as networks are gradually it. Message us if you would like to talk through the alternatives.
SIM800L-এর নেটওয়ার্ক LED কিভাবে বুঝব যে সিম নেটওয়ার্কে কানেক্ট হয়েছে কিনা?
LED দ্রুত ব্লিঙ্ক করলে (প্রতি সেকেন্ডে) মডিউল এখনো নেটওয়ার্ক খুঁজছে, আর ৩ সেকেন্ড পরপর ব্লিঙ্ক করলে নেটওয়ার্কে রেজিস্টার্ড হয়ে গেছে। যদি অনেকক্ষণ ধরেও দ্রুত ব্লিঙ্ক করতে থাকে, তাহলে অ্যান্টেনা ঠিকমতো লাগানো আছে কিনা এবং এলাকায় 2G সিগন্যাল আছে কিনা যাচাই করুন।
AT কমান্ড পাঠালে SIM800L কিছু রেসপন্স করে না, এটা কিভাবে ঠিক করব?
প্রথমে বড রেট চেক করুন (ডিফল্ট 9600), Serial Monitor-এ "Both NL & CR" সিলেক্ট করা আছে কিনা দেখুন, এবং RX/TX ক্রস করে লাগানো হয়েছে কিনা নিশ্চিত করুন। এরপরও কাজ না করলে পাওয়ার সাপ্লাই দুর্বল কিনা চেক করুন, কারণ আন্ডার-ভোল্টেজেও মডিউল রেসপন্স বন্ধ করে দিতে পারে।
অ্যান্টেনা ছাড়া SIM800L কিভাবে কাজ করে, লাগানো কি জরুরি?
অ্যান্টেনা ছাড়া মডিউল নেটওয়ার্ক খুঁজে পায় না বা সিগন্যাল দুর্বল থাকায় বারবার ডিসকানেক্ট হয়। তাই প্রপার হেলিকাল বা স্প্রিং অ্যান্টেনা লাগানো আবশ্যক, নাহলে SMS পাঠানো বা কল করার সময় মডিউল ফেইল করবে।
