LED Yellow
৳2
Standard 5 mm yellow LED with a forward voltage around 2.1V, so it takes about a 220Ω series resistor on a 5V rail.
Electrically almost identical to red, and the conventional middle state in any three-colour status indicator.
What you can build
- Warning and standby indicators
- Traffic light models and teaching sets
- The middle step in a red-yellow-green status display

Questions about the LED Yellow
Which resistor should I use with a yellow LED?
220Ω on a 5V supply, the same as red, because the forward voltages are close. On 3.3V use 100Ω.
Why does yellow look dimmer than red at the same current?
The human eye is not equally sensitive to every wavelength, and the efficiency of the die differs by colour. If a yellow indicator looks weak next to a red one, lower its resistor a step to 150Ω.
Which leg is positive?
The longer leg is the anode and goes to positive, and the flat notch on the rim marks the negative cathode side.
