Questions about the Buzzer 5V
What is the difference between an active and a passive buzzer?
An active buzzer has its own oscillator, so applying DC makes it sound at one fixed pitch. A passive buzzer has no oscillator and needs a square wave from the microcontroller, which lets you choose the pitch and play tunes. This one is active.
Can I play different notes on it?
No. The pitch is fixed by the internal oscillator. Use a passive buzzer if you need melodies or varying tones.
Can I drive it straight from an Arduino pin?
A small active buzzer generally draws little enough to run directly from a pin. If it sounds weak, or if the board misbehaves when it sounds, switch it through a transistor instead.
